Emergency Care Centre

North Shore Hospital is a 24hour service and sees, on average, 120 people at the centre daily. [This is figure is based on a yearly total of around 43,000 patients. Depending on the time of year (winter or summer seasons), the daily figure could range from 90 to 150 presentations].

All acute visits (referred by GP or self-referrals) are assessed and initially managed in the emergency care centre. All patients are triaged by a senior nurse according to the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) as described by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM – www.acem.org.au).

National Women's inpatient, newborn and maternity outpatient services are located on the 9th floor of the support building at  Auckland Hospital in Grafton.
National Women's Walk-In Centre, community outpatient services, and Gynaecology outpatient services continue to be provided on the Green Lane site on the 6th floor of the Greenlane clinical centre.

Gillies Hospital is a private surgical hospital that is a joint venture between Surgical Group Ltd (a group of specialist surgeons) and Southern Cross Health Trust. There has been a private hospital on this site, 160 Gillies Ave Epsom, since 1943.
The hospital has been designed for a wide range of specialist surgery with a focus on short stay procedures.
